How to Save and Download Your Minecraft Skin

Saving Your Work

MC Skin Editor has two save mechanisms: manual download and automatic autosave to browser storage.

Autosave

MC Skin Editor automatically saves your skin to your browser's localStorage every 30 seconds. If you accidentally close the tab or your browser crashes, your work is preserved. When you reopen the editor, a banner asks if you want to restore your last session — click Restore to get it back.

Manual Save (Download PNG)

1. Click the Download button in the toolbar (or press Ctrl+S)
2. A PNG file named minecraft-skin.png saves to your Downloads folder
3. The file is a standard 64×64 pixel PNG ready to upload to Minecraft

Saving Multiple Versions

If you're iterating on a design, download a PNG at each major step. This gives you a history you can return to. Rename files descriptively: skin-v1-base.png, skin-v2-shading.png, etc.

Applying the Skin in Minecraft

Java Edition

1. Go to minecraft.net and log in
2. Click your username → Profile
3. Under "Skin", click Browse and select your PNG
4. Choose Steve or Alex model
5. Click Save — your skin applies within minutes

Bedrock Edition

1. Open Minecraft → Settings → Profile
2. Click Edit Character → Classic Skins tab
3. Click the + icon → Import → choose your PNG
4. Select Steve or Alex and confirm
